World champion Neeraj Chopra admitted he didn’t put in too much effort during the Zurich Diamond Games after finishing second behind Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic.
“I feel very good now, as everyone is a bit tired after the World Championships – we gave 100% there, but for this competition my focus was on staying healthy. and now we have to focus on Eugene and then the Asian player. Game,” Neeraj said, as quoted by Diamond League.
“For me, the focus is just to stay healthy and give 100% in the next competitions. Sometimes we need to read our bodies. Today, I feel fine, I’m 100% fine, but I’m not trying too hard. Sometimes, our number one goal is to stay healthy. Today I tried my best but still focused on staying healthy,” he added.
25-year-old Chopra, also the defending Olympic champion, made three valid throws at 80.79m, 85.22m and 85.71m while the other three were all foul. He finished behind Vadlejch (85.86m), who won the bronze medal at the World Championships.

Chopra won the Diamond League meetings in Doha (May 5) and Lausanne (June 30) – his only two competitions before taking the historic gold medal at the World Championships. in Budapest on Sunday with a throw of 88.17m.
