Dear President Ramaphosa,
Dear President Lula da Silva,
Dear President Putin,
Dear President Xi,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I once again congratulate and thank my dear friend President Ramaphosa for the magnificent organization of the 15th BRICS Summit and the warm hospitality given to us.
My delegation and I are delighted to be once again in the beautiful city of Johannesburg.
This city has a very deep connection with the people of India and the history of India.
Tolstoy Farm, not far away, was built 110 years ago by Mahatma Gandhi.
By combining the great ideas of India, Eurasia and Africa, Mahatma Gandhi laid a solid foundation for our solidarity and mutual harmony.
excellent,
Over the past two decades, BRICS has completed a very long and wonderful journey.
We have achieved a lot in this journey.
Our New Development Bank is playing an important role in the development of countries in the Southern Hemisphere.
We have created a financial safety net through the Contingency Reserve Agreement.
With initiatives such as the establishment of the BRICS satellite, the Vaccine R&D Center, the mutual recognition of pharmaceutical products, we are bringing about positive changes in the lives of the people of all countries. BRICS.
Through initiatives like Youth Summit, BRICS Games, Think Tanks Council, we are strengthening people-to-people ties between all nations.
The Railway Research Network, closer cooperation between MSMEs, the online BRICS database, the Startup Forum are some of the suggestions made by India to give a new direction to the agenda. BRICS.
I am glad that significant progress has been made on these topics.
excellent,
I would like to make some suggestions to further expand our close cooperation.
The first is cooperation in the field of space. We are working on the satellite constellation BRICS.
Taking it a step further, we can consider the creation of the BRICS Space Exploration Consortium.
Accordingly, we can work for the global benefit in areas such as space research, weather monitoring.
My second recommendation is to collaborate in education, skills development and technology.
To make BRICS a future-ready organization, we must make our society future-ready. Technology will play an important role in this.
In India, we have created Digital Infrastructure platform for knowledge sharing DIKSHA to provide education to children in rural and remote areas.
In addition, to foster innovation among students, we have established 10,000 Atal tinkering labs around the country.
Bhashini, an AI-based language platform, is being used in India to remove language barriers.
The CoWIN platform was created for vaccination.
Public Service Delivery is being revolutionized through Digital Public Infrastructure i.e. India Stack.
Diversity is a great strength of India.
The solution to any problem in India emerges when this diversity is tested.
That’s why these solutions can be easily implemented anywhere in the world.
In this context, we are happy to share all these platforms developed in India with BRICS partners.
My third suggestion is that we can put together a skill map to identify each other’s strengths.
Through that we can complement each other in the development journey.
My fourth recommendation involves big cats.
A large number of big cats of different species are found in all 5 BRICS countries.
With the International Big Cats Alliance, we can work together to protect them.
My fifth recommendation is on traditional medicine.
We all have the traditional medicine ecosystem in our country.
Can we together create a treasure trove of traditional medicine?
excellent,
The countries of the Southern Hemisphere are considered of particular importance in the BRICS, which is chaired by South Africa.
We sincerely welcome it.
This is not only an expectation of the present moment but also a necessity.
India has made this topic a top priority during the G-20 presidency.
Our effort is to move forward with all countries under the motto “One Earth, One Family, One Future”.
125 countries participated in the Global Southern Voice Summit held in January this year, sharing their concerns and priorities.
We also proposed granting permanent membership of the G-20 to the African Union.
I am sure that all the BRICS partners also join the G20. And all will support our proposal.
Giving a special place to all these efforts in the BRICS will increase the confidence of countries in the Southern Hemisphere.
excellent,
India fully supports the expansion of BRICS membership. And welcome to move forward with consensus on this.
In 2016, during India’s presidency, we defined BRICS as Building Responsive, Inclusive and Collective Solutions.
After seven years, we can say that BRICS will – Break Barriers, Revitalize the Economy, Inspire Innovation, Create Opportunity and Shape the Future.
Together with all of our BRICS partners, we will continue to actively contribute to making this new definition meaningful.
Thanks a lot.
