Sunny Deol Gadar 2 star has been enjoy a historic run at the box office. After a successful first week in cinemas where the film earned Rs 284.63 crore nett in India, the film’s eighth day brought in Rs 19.5 crore, according to industry tracking company Sacnilk. This lifted the film’s domestic net sales to Rs 304.13 crore.
The film’s domestic gross surpassed the Rs 300 crore mark on Saturday, and after day eight it now stands at Rs 335.9 crore. The film’s overseas gross, according to industry watchers, was Rs 33.1 crore.

Gadar 2 is currently looking forward to its second weekend in theaters. The film was released amid some competition from Akshay Kumar star OMG 2 and the film Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani but Gadar 2 emerged as a clear winner. The film opened with a whopping Rs 40.1 crore at the box office and has maintained a good slate at cinemas in the following days. Anil Sharma’s film is expected to enjoy another successful weekend in existing cinemas as there are no major releases this weekend.
Gadar’s Strong Legacy
Gadar 2 is the sequel to the 2001 film Gadar that also stars Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in the lead roles. Back then, the film was released starring Lagaan starring Aamir Khan and both films are considered landmark films of the era. While Gadar was acclaimed in the domestic market, Lagaan received international acclaim for being nominated at the Academy Awards.
Gadar 2 is set in 1971 and follows Sunny’s Tara Singh back to Pakistan, where his son Jeeta, played by Utkarsh Sharma, is being held hostage. Sunny has been known for his action image since the early days and it seems that audiences are still enjoying this image of the actor.
