As the Cricket World Cup approached and anticipation skyrocketed following the recent schedule announcement, the ICC introduced its mascot duo for the event.
The mascots were unveiled during an event in Gurugram, India with the captains of the defending U19 World Cup champions, Yash Dhull and Shafali Verma.
Originating from a distant cricket utopia called the Crictoverse, male and female mascots represent distinct traits that are symbols of both gender equality and diversity.
With a turbo-powered arm that propels fireballs at lightning speed, the female character’s sheer accuracy amazes even the most daring hitters. Unmatched reflexes, fierce flexibility, and fervent determination make her a super-powered bowling alley. Embellished with a belt carrying six powerful cricket balls, each strategically prepared for different game-changing tactics, she’s always ready to set fire to the game.
The male character exudes an unmistakable blend of sub-zero coolness and high voltage polishing prowess. Every shot of him, from his stealthy dexterity to his straight six-shot hits, creates an intense charisma that keeps audiences enthralled. His flexible batting and electromagnetic swing amplify the excitement, lighting up the stage and brightening the folds with each stroke.
Fans will have a unique chance to participate in the most important naming period before August 27.
During the early stages of development, fans played an important role in shaping the design of the mascot through extensive surveys.
Speaking about the launch of the mascots, ICC Head of Events Chris Tetley said: “We are delighted to launch the ICC mascot duo ahead of the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Championship.
“The characters permanently signify the universal appeal of cricket beyond cultures and boundaries with mascots being a beacon of unity and passion. With representation of both They epitomize the important role gender equality plays in our dynamic world.
