A dynamic Indian cricket team will play Ireland in a three-match T20 series from Friday. The T20 series marks the return of speed racer Jasprit Bumrah, who will take on the role of captain for the Ireland series. The cricket governing body has decided to send the youngest Indian team with Indian Premier League (IPL) stars like Rinku Singh, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube and Shehbaz Ahmed to join the Indian team.
Despite the abundance of young players, Jasprit Bumrah’s performance is sure to remain in the spotlight as over the past few years he has remained a mainstay of India’s fast bowling and, in his absence, bowling team has been greatly affected. At the ICC World Cup 2023 next year, Jasprit Bumrah needs to make a good comeback and bring the confidence needed for the Indian team.
In terms of thinking, Bumrah seems to have been right when he pointed out that he is fully preparing for the World Cup competition.
“We note that there is no Test cricket until the ODI World Cup. During my rehabilitation, I wasn’t prepared for a T20 match either. I’m always preparing for the World Cup,” Jasprit Bumrah told reporters ahead of the India-Ireland match.
“I have bowled 10, 12 and even 15 times. So I was bowling more, that way it became easier with less bowling required. We keep in mind that we are preparing for a one-day competition, not a four-person competition. I have a lot of overs under my belt. You have to keep working your way up. From where you left off, you’re going down a little bit and you keep working to go up,” he added.
