Parsi Happy New Year: The Navroz auspicious festival, also known as Nowruz, takes place in India in July or August. This year the Parsi New Year will be celebrated on today, that is on August 16. The Parsi community in India follows the Shahenshahi calendar, according to which they observe Navroz almost 200 days after the rest of the world. Globally, the Parsi New Year falls in March.
This day also marks the beginning of the Iranian or Persian New Year, celebrated globally by different peoples for more than 3,000 years. On this day, the Parsi community in India cleans and decorates their homes, prays to God, prepares meals and invites their family and friends to meet. Traditional meals like Dhansak, Patra Ni Machi, Sali Boti, Berry Pulav, Lagan Nu Custard, Ravo are often cooked in Parsi households.
