Renowned industrialist Ratan Tata on Saturday was awarded the first ‘Udyog Ratna’ award established by the Maharashtra government.
The award was presented to the 85-year-old honorary chairman of Tata Sons by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar at the industrialist’s home in Colaba, south of Mumbai.
Honors include a shawl, a quote and a memento from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).
Grandfather. Shinde said honoring Mr. Tata with ‘Udyog Ratna’ enhanced the prestige of the award.
“The Tata Group’s contribution in all areas, from salt to vehicles to aviation, is immeasurable. Tata means trust and people have great faith in Tata Group. I thank him for accepting this award,” he said.
