LUCKNOW: Former UP CM Kalyan Singh’s presence was huge on his second day anniversary as a group of political leaders led by Union interior minister Amit Shah and UP CM yogis Adityanath took to the yard of his home, Aligarh, to pay his respects even as the BJP considers this day ‘Hindu Gaurav Diwas’.
The party unleashed its organizational strength behind the event to send a broad message about the union of Hindutva and OBC. Both Shah and Yogi remember Kalyan Singh as the real Ram bhakt, “who chose to sacrifice his CM chair instead of ordering (police) to shoot at kar sevaks” on December 6, 1992, when Babri Masjid was killed. destroyed in Ayodhya.
Kalyan Singh resigned as CM on the evening of December 6, taking moral responsibility for the events. Later, the central government led by Narasimha Rao dismissed him.
On Monday, when convening Ram Mandir ahead of the 2024 election, Shah said: “BJP winning all 80 Lok Sabha seats in UP will be true tribute to ‘Babuji’ (Kalyan Singh)… Today, we are happy because under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in early 2024, we will witness Lord Ram sitting in the great temple yours after 550 years.”
Kalyan, Lodh — an electorally prominent OBC community in UP — was the first BJP leader to successfully combine backward politics with Hindutva, a pattern Amit Shah developed with amazingly successful taking over the BJP’s UP position in charge in 2013 and has pushed the party into invincibility. Before that, the BJP was basically seen as an urban party of the upper classes.
Given that Kalyan Singh was the main guiding force behind the BJP’s record success in the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Shah recalled: “When I was appointed in charge of UP, I didn’t know much about UP. Babuji was the one who told me about all the districts in great detail. He kept calling me and guiding me since 2013.” He added, “I was hospitalized for coronavirus on the day (August 5, 2020) Modiji laid the cornerstone of Shri Ram Mandir. That day I called Babuji and he said life’s goals. he’s done.”
“Babuji paid special attention to three things as CM. He accelerated the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi campaign, laid the basis for BJP’s ideas on the welfare of the poor and worked for the development of society. backward without inciting casteism and disturbing social harmony. Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also doing these three things,” said Shah.
Yogi said the upcoming Ram Temple in Ayodhya is actually the result of a campaign that started between 1990 and 1992.
