Captain Mohammad Waseem smashed a half-century-old opportunity and led the United Arab Emirates to a bold win over New Zealand to level their Twenty20 series on Saturday.
Waseem took advantage of two abandoned catches and overcame the chase with a 29-55 scoreline as the UAE took a 144-3 lead to a seven-stroke win with more than three hurdles and a of the best wins in T20 against a national play test.
New Zealand’s top order was muffled by Aaayan Afzal Khan’s left-hand swing, who took a 3-20 lead, before Mark Chapman hit 63 of 46 balls lifting the Kiwis to 142-8.

Defending that total, New Zealand’s pitchers received little support from their runners when Kyle Jamiesen dropped a babysitter from Waseem in the following batting power match. when James Neesham delivered a stunning hit in the slide to knock out Aryansh Sharma in the first round.
Waseem broke the three boundaries of six and four and shared two valuable stands. He contributed 40 with Vriitya Aravind (25) for the second match and 56 with Asif Khan, who went undefeated with 48.
Waseem overcame Tim Southee in the 11th round but Khan ensured that the UAE won by fixing the result by two halves and six against Southee in the 16th round.
New Zealand failed to gain any momentum on another slow court at the Dubai International Stadium as Aayan excelled at bowling in the power game. New Zealand’s plot to send Mitchell Santner in the No 1 3 backfired when Aayan scored with two shots after consecutive serves as he knocked out Santner and Dane Cleaver.
New Zealand was 38-4 in the seventh inning as Aayan beat Chad Bowes.
