Singar panchayat village in Nuh has handed over 16 suspects to Nuh police for their alleged involvement in community violence that broke out on July 31. They say five of the suspects have been handed over to police on Sunday and the two suspects on Monday after their arrest. a meeting in the village earlier this month.

Villagers say the decision was made on August 6 after repeated police raids in the area.
Village chief Mohammad Shakit said that the situation in the village had become very tense after raids led to many residents leaving the village with their livestock.
“We held a panchayat where we decided that those men, who had been identified by the police and were on the run, would have to surrender to the police. After that, the police promised that they would not conduct any more raids to disrupt the peace of the village,” he said.
Shakit said it had handed over at least 16 suspects believed to be involved in the violence from their village since August 8.
Mohammad Irsad, a member of the panchayat, said they are persuading family members not to support the suspects. “It is not easy for them but the families are cooperating with the panchayat and the police. They have called for their children who are sheltering in other villages to come back,” he said.
According to police, these suspects targeted devotees, who were then trapped in the temple in Singar village for several hours during the violence.
Meanwhile, Narender Bijarniya, Nuh police chief, praised panchayat’s initiative.
“We have continuously held meetings with people of both communities and called for the handover of those guilty of the violence to the police, otherwise we will take strict action against them. them our way. The effect of this appeal forced the villagers of Singar to hand over the five suspects on Sunday to the Bichhor police station squad,” he said.
